A Christmas Treat after months of Repeats

The current plan is that we will still be showing our Christmas Special this holiday season with the rest of second season to follow in late Jan or early Feb.

Sorry for the delay with the new episodes, everyone. There are various internal reasons that caused Nick to push the launch of second season. The most important is that they really want to promote the start of new episodes which they have not been able to do this fall. So, although it's a disappointment to all you TR fans, the ads will helpfully create new fans and grow our audience base.

Stay tough and look forward to a special present from the TR crew this November.

I had noticed that there was pretty much zero publicity about the new season and I think delaying the season premiere for that reason is quite defensible. I want the show to be successful, and it can't do that if people don't know about it, so I for one think it's a good idea under these circumstances.

That's a vile statement.

I'm hoping this leading to a downfall like Invader Zim, just so they can hype the heck out of the next piece of trash from Klasky-Csupo...

I personally was disappointed that the plan to make Skeleton Key into a nickelodeon cartoon turned out to be vaporware. I remain hopeful that perhaps SLG will maybe do this with another network. But if it doesn't happen, it's not like it's such a big deal. It'd just be cool.

Zim was cancelled because of poor ratings. I think Jenny action figures would be great. Maybe next Xmas?

This came up on a previous discussion, and my research online suggests that it's Nickelodeon's normal practice to wait a year or two after a show premieres before deciding whether to release merchandise. So if I had to guess, I'd say there will be stuff eventually, just not yet.

I actually managed to find the same newspaper article that I found before. I'll post the url since I think it's an interesting read that answers this question pretty well, cites a reliable source and is 100% relevant:

http://www.montereyherald.com/mld/montereyherald/5119584.htm

The article is summed up by this quote: "Nickelodeon waits at least a year or two before releasing merchandise, carefully monitoring whether the property has the emotional impact to produce a merchandising hit."

This information is also corroborated by a nickdisk post citing a comment by Fred Seibert (an executive producer of the show) that it would be at least one more year before merchandise was released. This post was dated 1/2004.

It's a strategy that appears to be working. According to http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=conewsstory&refer=conews&tkr=VIA:US&sid=asM3l4RqeudY, "Nick's consumer products business [is] the world's sixth largest licensing business and the world's largest licensing business based on TV-first properties."
