NO ROBOT TONIGHT. The big-wigs at Nick have kicked us to the curb tonight to show two hours of Avatar. (Insert sad face here.) But we are on Saturday and Sunday at noon, so stay home for lunch this weekend and eat your peanut butter and jelly in front of the TV. 

BEFORE TEENAGE ROBOT. Did you guys know that Teenage Robot was not Rob's first show? Rob did several shorts for "Oh Yeah" Cartoons and his favorite was "Mina and the Count." It really looked like "Mina" was going to be his first full-fledged series and that's where he put his hopes and energies. But for many different reasons, one of Rob's other shorts, "Teenage Robot," was the one that went the distance. MLAATR ARTIST PUTS PAINTINGS ONLINE. Our lead background designer, Joseph Holt, has put some of his personal paintings online for everyone to see at josephholtart.com. They're creepy, cool, and beautiful all at the same time... kind of like Sheldon. 

TEENAGE ROBOT COMIC DEBUTS! In this month's Nickelodeon magazine, the first two-page comic has finally debuted. (There was a single-panel gag in it last month.) And just to wet your whistle, there is a SIX-PAGE comic in the works.

ONLY THREE PICTURES OF ASIFA EVENT! Okay, so here's the real story. I wasn't able to personally attend the ASIFA event, so I asked one of our P.A.'s to snap some pictures for me. To her credit, she did take the two pictures below, but the rest of the roll featured shots of herself and her friends and somebody's baby. This is just one sad example. It's a shame really. 

ASIFA PANEL WOWS THE CROWD. The ASIFA representative discusses Teenage Robot secrets with art director Alex Kirwan as fellow panelist Joseph Holt talks with the purposely obscured Rob Renzetti who doesn't want to be identified and stalked by rabid fans.

ASIFA SCREENING TO PACKED HOUSE! Wednesday night's ASIFA MLAATR screening and discussion played to a packed house here at Nick. Eighty spots were available but nearly 100 people crammed into the Nick gymnasium for the event. 

WAKEMAN IN SPACE. I thought you guys might like to see a concept sketch that Bernie, one of our storyboard artists, put together when he was doing the board for "No Place Like Home School." I think it works because Wakeman's always been a little bit "out there." 

TIME SQUAD OVERLAP. I don't know if any of you are fans of the show "Time Squad," but many of us here at MLaaTR worked on that show as well. Rob Renzetti, Alex Kirwan, Ani (our production manager), Brandon (our storyboard artist), Joseph (our BG designer), Chris (our color stylist), and Shawn (our clean-up artist) all worked together on Time Squad. I was watching one the other day and noticed a robot character called XJ5! Coincidence? You be the judge. 

FAN ART! CDB2 created this dynamic interpretation of Vexus and a character called Grievous. 

FAN ART! Glen Wang outdoes himself with this royal depiction of the entire cast. Very cool! 

HEY! SHE'S NOT IN OUR SHOW! I found this picture online, one of the amazing works of art that Alex Kirwan has painted over the years. True, it's a character from another show on another network, but man, I really like it. 

ANOTHER NOMINATION FOR TEENAGE ROBOT! Cartoons on the Bay’s festival director Alfio Bastiancich has announced the 40 short listed titles, which have been chosen to compete for the Pulcinella Awards this year. In the Children category Nickelodeon (U.S.) will be competing with MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT, Walt Disney Television Animation (U.S.) has BRANDY & MR WHISKERS and Millimages (France) has PITT & KANTROP. Bastiancich says, "The standard is so high this year that the international Jury will have a difficult task ahead of them choosing the winners!"

XJ-LOVERS! Well, during a random web search I found a site devoted to XJ-Lovers. Sounds like a club Sheldon would start. I figured, "Hey, either this is a community for big fans of our show or it's a list of all the guys XJ9 has ever fallen for." Little did I know. 

RECORDING TODAY. Tuesday is the day we normally do voice recording and today is no exception. We are recording "I Fought the Law" which pits Jenny against a particularly vengeful Skyway Patrol officer. Pictured below is one of our amazing voice actors... but which one?!?!? 

LEGION OF EVIL!!! Today we had a storyboard pitch for a new third season episode tentatively entitled "Legion of Evil." The idea for this episode came from the gang of villains in the old 70's Superfriends cartoons called the Legion of Doom. (Their headquarters, which looks like Darth Vader's helmet, is in the picture.) Can you guess which five villains from Jenny's rogue's gallery have gotten together to form the sinister Legion of Evil???  

NO SHIPPING TODAY! For the first Friday in months, we don't have rush around to ship things to Korea today and the mood around the Teenage Robot offices is ebullient! (Check your dictionary if you're not sure of that last word. Nick execs don't want you to challenge you with any four-syllable words in our shows, but this isn't in a show, now is it?)
