Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday and a Robotic New Year

Tried to get some Alex artwork up over the last couple days but Blogspot is not cooperating. Will try again in 2006, after we get back from our winterbreak. In the meantime check out our new 2006 calenadar at Cafe Press.

Best wishes to all our fans for a happy, joyful holiday season and a prosperous new year!

Annie Nominations Are In!

And MLAATR received 3 nominations. In addition to the general "Best TV Show" category, Alex Kirwan recieved a nomination for Production Design and Bryan Arnett got one for Character Design. Bryan is soft spoken but oh so talented with a pencil (and a golf club). You may recognize these Arnett designs from our one hour special.

Tricky Treats

Its tricky figuring out this computer stuff! But I finally found a way to serve up some belated Halloween visual treats for all of you. Some may remember the giant UFO from last year. This year we had the spacecraft land right in the middle of Tremorton and boy is the town worse off for it. Many thanks to everyone on the crew including Alex (Hamburglar) Kirwan for leading the design team and Randy (Underdog) Myers for documenting it all.

Happy Halloween!

Just a test to see if I FINALLY figured out how to post images

Make your voice heard!

Several people have inquired about how they can contact Nick. I amm reposting the anonymous tip from the last post.

Mr. Herb Scannell
President, Nickelodeon
1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10036

If you happen to live in New York, or if you can afford a long distance phone call. Viewers can voice complaints with the following number.
(212) 258-7579

Nickelodeon apparently doesn't have a viewer feedback e-mail. But you can give them feedback about cancelling My Life as a Teenage Robot on their web site at:

XJWriter is No More!

When the show did not get picked up for a fourth season his work was done. He has moved on to another show at a different company. He was the one that did the daily updates as many of you are well aware. Unfortunately I am still swamped producing the show and it is hard for me to squeak out any time to post. Please be patient with us!! As the show winds down I will have more time and I should be able to do more with the blog.

Band Aids and Teenage Robots

You know how it's best to remove a band aid quickly rather than try to minimize the pain by going slow?

There will be no fourth season of Teenage Robot.

The executives love the show but the ratings aren't good enough for them to give us more episodes. We've known for quite awhile and I apologize for not letting you all know sooner but it I didn't want to dampen the enthusiasm you all have for the show. It really lifts my spirits to read your posts.

On the plus side, there are still many unaired episodes of Teenage Robot yet to come. Some of our best, I think. So please keep watching and spreading the word about Jenny. If the ratings improve over time who knows...

SpongeBob's original run was only three seasons as well ;)

This action shot is great! Thanks for sending in your artwork!

Calling All Webmasters!!

Do you run a MLAATR fan site? IF so, when's the last time you posted new material? Would you like to see "Escape from Cluster Prime" on Video and DVD?

RECENT activity on fan sites is one of the things that might convince Nick that there is a market for the TR TV Movie. No guarantees, off course, but anything that shows a strong fan base will help our chances. So if you haven't been posting, do it for Jenny!

Janice Tolentino: Storyboard Clean-Up Artist

When Janice recieves the "Rough" Storyboard, it is her job transform it into a polished, scaled version. This requires a steady hand, an accurate eye, and a lot of patience. Check out the Before and After pictures to get the full effect!

Warped View

Another quick sketch from Bernie Petterson:

Jenny Gets an Extreme Makeover?

Just kidding! But, Alex Kirwan did come up with a new look for the show. It won't be implemented but, isn't is fun to consider? This post-it was probably the result of Alex doodling in a meeting. Even Art Directors daydream!

Art Deco Brit & Tiff by: Bernie Petterson

Here's a quick sketch by Bernie Petterson, a Teenage Robot Storyboard Artist. Don't Brit and Tiff look regal? Maybe this is a Halloween costume idea. If you had your druthers, what would Jenny's Halloween costume be?

Art Show!

Nickelodeon will be hosting an art show for Teenage Robot's exemplary artists, ColorStylist, Leticia Lacy and Lead Background Designer, Joseph Holt this Friday. As you can see by their invitation, these two are boundlessly imaginative artists. Come and share the wine and hors d' oeuvres as you peruse the works of two of Nickelodeon's most valued painters.

The Problem of Cartoon Continuity in TV Cartoons

Here at MLAATR we are discouraged from creating long story arcs that carry through several cartoons. The reason? Because we never know what order things are going to air. You will all soon see an example of this on your very own television. The episodes that will start showing this week are, for the most part, Season 2 shows. "Escape from Cluster Prime" was done at the start of Season 3. I made the foolish assumption that Nick was going to air all of Second Season WAAAAYYY before the movie ever played. So in these "new" episodes you will see Vexus and the rest of the Cluster as if the movie never happened. Which, when we made these episodes, it hadn't.

Nickelodeon's Fall 2005 issue of Nicktoons will feature an all new Teenage Robot comic strip! You'll be treated to eight full color action packed pages starring Jenny and rival aliens that are more than meets the eye. Like them? They'll be showing up soon in "Eye of the Beholder."

It's great to see your enthusiasm for nominating the MLaaTR voice talent. I try to sit in on a few minutes of the recording sessions each week and they are a very talented group of actors. Often they do several voices for each show and its amazing how they can change their voices to fit the character, emotion, and changing directions from Rob. The picture above is from last year, but I've always liked it. Seeing Jenny 40 feet high is pretty cool.

FAN ART!!! How can Sheldon spurn Jenny so close to her world premiere of all new episodes? (Did you like that transition? I barely saw it coming.) Yes, we are a mere five days away from the 3:00 daily stripping of TR. I can't wait. I haven't even seen all of these episodes and I work here!!! Posted by Picasa

Thank the talented and mysterious character designer Bryan Arnett for this amazing picture of Jenny and Tuck.

Teenage Stripping!

Teenage Robot is about to be on the air FIVE DAYS A WEEK! When the networks put on reruns of a show every day of the week, it's called "stripping" a show. Well starting right after Labor Day on September 6th, Nick will be stripping MLaaTR at 3:00 every weekday!!! But that's only part of the huge news. That first week will be ALL NEW EPISODES! Tuesday the 6th: new episode! Wednesday the 7th: new episode! Thursday the 8th: new episode! Friday the 9th: new episode! Your patience is finally being rewarded!!!!

STORYBOARD PITCH TODAY! This afternoon, Brandon, a brilliant MLaaTR storyboard artist, will pitch the next-to-last episode of season three: "Honor Among Robots." Can you believe we're working on the end of season three before you guys even see all of season two? FYI: "Honor" is one of the few stories written by a freelancer this season... actually two freelancers, Dwane and Shahrzad. In this episode, Jenny returns to Japan and accidentally dishonors a robot samurai. Posted by Picasa

RUMORS!!! There are rumors, just rumors mind you, that Nick will be airing new episodes of Teenage Robot in early September. This is unsubstantiated and could change and I'm not promising, but if they do air some more of the season two episodes, which will be first?!? Bradventurer? Teenage Mutant Ninja Troubles?!? Toying with Jenny?!?!? Only time will tell... Posted by Picasa

WELCOME BAKE O'FIELD DAY! Well, yesterday's "Welcome Back Rob / Bake Off / Field Day" lunch was a taste-tempting treat for everyone on the staff (although it left everyone bloated and obdurate.) Rob himself judged the entries, and after saying something complimentary and incoherent about each and every one, he made his decision.

AND THE WINNER IS... For most original baked item the award goes to Alex Kirwan for these Rob Renzetti-faced cookies!!! Delicious, practical, and kissing the boss's butt all at the same time! Posted by Picasa
